October
The UK Government announces its intention to reform the structure of Air Passenger Duty to tax aircraft, not passengers from 2009. The move would properly reflect the pollution levels of different aircraft types and the distance flown by those aircraft. The Government later reneged on this promise, choosing instead to continue to tax passengers but not cargo planes, private jets or transfer passengers.
November
easyJet targets the US$ 90 billion European corporate travel market with an innovative distribution deal with Travelport GDS. The ground-breaking development enables corporate travel agencies to view and book easyJet flights within the Global Distribution Systems that are most frequently used to book flights.
