easyJet, the UK’s largest airline and biggest operator at London Luton Airport, has today announced expansion plans which will see the airline begin flying to the popular Greek resort of Mykonos and the historic Sardinian resort of Olbia, from Summer 2013.
easyJet will fly to the Greek resort of Mykonos twice a week from London Luton Airport with fares starting from as little as £32.99* and the inaugural flight taking off on 26 April 2013.
Mykonos is a Greek island which forms part of the Cyclades and lies between Tinos, Syros, Paros and Naxos. A sun worshipper’s paradise, the island is also awash with cultural heritage with Petros the Pelican and the Mykonos Windmills being two of the most recognised landmarks of Mykonos.
The new route to Olbia will operate twice a week with fares starting from £30.99* and inaugural flights taking off from 15 May 2013.
Olbia is the gateway to the beautiful white beaches of the northeast Sardinian coast and the glittering Costa Smeralda. Once a little fishing village, it has grown to become Sardinia’s busiest ferry port and a haven for food lovers. Travellers will find fabulous restaurants and piazzas off its cobbled lanes in the old part of town while Olbia’s top cultural landmark is the medieval Pisan-Romanesque church which is hewn out of Galluran granite.
With the addition of today’s new routes, easyJet will now operate 38 routes from London Luton Airport with a comprehensive range of European and Middle Eastern business, city and holiday destinations featuring 2.5 million seats and 16,000 flights up until 8 September 2013. All flights are on sale now at www.easyJet.com.
Hugh Aitken, easyJet’s UK Commercial Manager, said:
“easyJet is committed to making travel easy and affordable for all and we fly to the destinations our customers tell us they most want to visit. I’m sure that these two new summer sun destinations of Olbia and Mykonos from London Luton Airport, are going to be a huge hit with holidaymakers.
“Today’s announcement reinforces easyJet’s commitment to offering more varied destinations, at the best value and best availability for our passengers.”
Gavin Shuker, Member of Parliament - Luton (South), added:
“As the member of Parliament representing Luton and the Airport, it’s great to see easyJet expanding operations at London Luton Airport. I welcome easyJet’s continued commitment to Luton which now sees the airline operating 38 destinations from the airport to Europe and beyond.”
Glyn Jones, Managing Director for Luton Airport, added:
“We are delighted that easyJet continues to develop its route network here at London Luton. Such additions to the network are great news for passengers providing yet more choice and is testament to the Airport’s convenient location and commitment to providing great customer service.
In addition, easyJet developing its route network here at its spiritual home reinforces the important role the Airport plays as a key economic driver for the local and regional economy.”
